DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur Participating in SEA F&B Masters 2015

Chef Abdul Halim Bin Jahari takes home the coveted Culinary Cup in the F&B Masters Regional Competition (Malaysia and Vietnam)

DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur is participating in the SEA F&B Masters 2015 organized by Hilton Worldwide with the competition held across five disciplines: Bar, Culinary, Barista, Sommelier and Pastry. In the recently held Malaysia and Vietnam Regional Competition, Chef Abdul Halim Bin Jahari, Junior Sous Chef at DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur emerged as the Culinary Cup winner.

The competition held in Hilton Kuala Lumpur, was participated by team members from other Hilton and DoubleTree by Hilton properties across Malaysia. The candidates were required to create and prepare two courses of which the core ingredients were prawns for starter and lamb for the main course. They were then judged on a list of stringent criteria that includes recipe composition, preparation and cooking techniques, culinary skills, hygiene and safe working practices, innovation and creativity, time management, culinary composition and dish presentation amongst others. After a grueling competition, Chef Abdul Halim wowed the presiding judges with his creation, crusted lamb loin served with horseradish mashed potatoes, sautéed market vegetables and lamb jus.

DTKL FlavoursbyDTKL Contents Banners Nov20152Chef Abdul Halim was more than elated as he was being announced winner and in the next stage of the SEA F&B Masters 2015 competition, Chef Halim will be representing the hotel to the regional Asia Pacific final.
